Aftershave
My son matured very early. By the time he was in his early teens he was 6”1’ and had to shave every day. Most thirteen year old boys would ask for aftershave because they want to seem more mature. He is the only thirteen year old boy I know that asked for aftershave because he had to use it.
It was a struggle for him. He had to prove he was younger than he looked. He was given a hard time for dating a fifteen year old girl, even though she was actually older than he was. The only place he felt he fit in was on the football field. He lived to play. There his height and muscular build was just what he needed. Eventually his age caught up with his body and things became easier on him. I was reminded of all of this because my grandson is turning fourteen and on his birthday wish list was aftershave. He takes after his dad. I know he will turn out to be the wonderful man his dad is today.
