I love Christmas time. For me it starts out before Halloween. I am involved in a group of ladies that holds an event every fall and raises money and collects toys for our local toy drive for children. This year we are having a craft fair. I got to collect and store the donations for the silent auction this year. It has been a lot of fun. I have met some really nice people. I am very impressed with peoples Christmas spirit and generosity.
I think this year has been the biggest and best so far. My spare bedroom is full of gift baskets all donated local business’s and caring individuals for the silent auction and door prizes. There is a night out on the town for two, a couple of gift baskets with chocolate and other goodies, a day at the spa, a basket of hair care products and more. One of the event organizers put together an amazing gift basket full of hair care and body lotions. She said she got them all online at McQ Superstore located at www.mcqsuperstore.com. She put in a collection of my favorite hair care products but I don’t know if she knew she was creating the perfect gift basket for me when she made it. As soon as I saw it I told her I was going to be bidding on it.
Even my husband knows to bid on the gift basket with the hair care products. Though, he wants to win the night out on the town for two. He was saying we will have to win both of them. I can use the stuff in the hair care basket to get ready for our night out on the town. Sure, why not. We could use a night out and all the money is going to be used to give toys to kids. It is a win/win situation as far as I am concerned.
I think the competition is going to be high for all the silent auction items this year. All the volunteers have indicated what prizes they are going to be bidding on. It is going to be interesting to see what happens when the people at the craft show start bidding. I think a lot of money is going to be raised this year. I am going to do my part and bid lots on the hair care gift basket. It is being self-indulgent in a way I can feel good about. I get to pamper myself and help the toy drive at the same time.
